His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended a State Banquet hosted by His Excellency Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the International Convention Centre, Ha Noi, 1st December night. Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

 

In a titah at the State Banquet, His Majesty expressed pleasure to be back in the “City for Peace". Viet Nam became a member of ASEAN in 1995 in Bandar Seri Begawan, and thirty years on has emerged as one of the region's rising economies and a respected ASEAN member state. In this regard, His Majesty expressed confidence that Viet Nam will continue to achieve significant progress under its 'Vision 2045' towards a prosperous and sustainable nation. His Majesty also commended Viet Nam's evolution on the international stage, including its re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council and the successful hosting of the United Nations Convention Against Cybercrime.

 

Also present, His Excellency Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, whose presence at the State Banquet signified the close relationship between His Majesty and His Excellency, and reflects the good bilateral relations.

 

Bilaterally, Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam continue to share a warm and close relationship through the Comprehensive Partnership. His Majesty in a titah highlighted the deepening trade linkages in many areas, including through agriculture joint ventures and energy cooperation, which brings both mutual benefit as well as guarantee food and energy security. Moving forward, His Majesty said both countries must work closely for continued growth and development, and His Majesty expressed pleasure that Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam are strengthening bilateral ties through the signing of documents during the State Visit. In concluding the titah, His Majesty looked forward to working closely with the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and other ASEAN member states to achieve the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 towards regional peace, security and stability.
